There are many races in Myrradel of different abilities and strengths. According to popular knowledge, there are about 40 races wandering the world. The following is a list of available player races to choose from on Myrradel.


Human

Humans are the most "neutral" of all the races. They have normal attribute levels, yet are the most versatile in all the available professions. Other races view Humans neutrally and normally do not attack out of racial hatred. Humans are equally good in all classes. Their stature does not make them an easy target to hit.

Humans have no attribute bonuses.

Humans do not recieve any specific racial abilities.

Humans do not have any racial weaknesses.

Humans hate: No races.


Elf

Elves are an extremely long-lived and intelligent race. On the average, Elves are smarter and more dextrous than Humans, but not as robust or physically powerful. Elves are nearly as tall as Humans, but tend to have long, slender limbs and pointed ears. Over the centuries, several races have developed a seething hatred of Elves.

Attribute bonuses: -2 str, +2 int, +1 wis, +1 dex, -1 con.

Racial abilities: Infravision, detect hidden, resist charm and resist mental.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to iron.

Elves hate: Drows, Goblins, Duergars, Halforcs and Barbarians.


Halfelf

Halfelves are crossbreeds of Humans and Elves. They have all the physical attributes of Elves and have the bodily strength normally associated with Humans. Their stature is equivalent with that of Humans. Unfortunately, having Elven characteristics, certain races may impart their hatred for Elves upon Halfelves.

Attribute bonuses: +1 dex.

Racial abilities: Partial amounts of infravision, resist poison and resist charm.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to iron.

Halfelves hate: Drows and Goblins.


Drow

The Drow are distant relatives of the Elves, forced underground by their cousins millenia ago. Drows share many of the same characteristics as Elves, being somewhat smarter and nimble than Humans, if not as healthy. Drows look very much like their distant cousins, except that Drows have very dark skin, white hair and white eyes. Drows are well adapted to the dark underworld, and often have difficulty outside in the light. Besides an intense hatred of Elves, the Drows have made enemies of many other races.

Drows may not become Paladins or Foresters.

Attribute bonuses: -1 str, +1 int, +1 wis, +1 dex, -2 con.

Racial abilities: Infravision, detect hidden, resist magic and resist mental.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to light.

Drows hate: Elves, Halfelves and Hobbits.


Dwarf

Dwarves are a short and stalky race originating from the mountains and foothills. Dwarves are often not as wise as Humans, but tend to be very healthy and robust. Dwarves are shorter than Humans, and tend to grow long beards. Dwarves have found many natural enemies while living in the mountains, and are often suspicious of those much taller than themselves.

Attribute bonuses: +1 str, -1 dex, +2 con.

Racial abilities: Infravision, detect hidden, resist poison, resist disease.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to drowning.

Dwarves hate: Giants, Goblins, Duergars and Halforcs.


Hobbit

Hobbits are small, fun-loving creatures with a strong sense of family. Sometimes there is an occasional black sheep with a strong desire for adventure. Hobbits have small frames and are quite agile. Because of their size, they gain certain advantages when fighting much larger foes but they are also picked upon by these large gruesome beasts too.

Attribute bonuses: -1 str, -1 wis, +3 dex, -1 con.

Racial abilities: Partial infravision, detect hidden, resist poison and resist disease.

Hobbits do not have any racial weaknesses.

Hobbits hate: Giants and Goblins.


Gnome

Gnomes are small, though human-like. They have rough skin and are often of a brown and weather-worn complexion. Gnomes are very mechanincally inclined.

Attribute bonuses: -1 str, +1 wis, +1 dex, -1 con.

Racial abilities: Infravision, resist poison and resist disease.

Gnomes do not have any racial weaknesses.

Gnomes hate: Drows, Goblins and Barbarians.


Duergar

The Duergar are the dark cousins of the Dwarves. Often, they work hand in hand with the Drow towards whatever ends they seek. They are very similar in appearance to your typical dwarf, only a great deal paler. They tend to have a slight red tint to their eyes. It gives them a very feral appearance at times. A Duergar will avoid sunlight if at all possible, as it actually pains them. In addition, they are nearly blind in broad daylight.

Duergars may not become Paladins or Foresters.

Attribute bonuses: +1 str, -1 int, -1 con.

Racial abilities: Infravision, resist poison and resist mental.

Duergars do not have any racial weaknesses.

Duergar hate: Dwarves, Gnomes, Hobbits, Elves and Halfelves.


Halforc

Halforcs have a very nasty reputation for being brutal. Most other races shun them, because of their Orc heritage. In almost all cases, these creatures were produced when an Orc male raped a Human female and came to term. Halforcs are usually quite strong but not very bright. They are nearly the same size as a typical Human, but with an ugly snout and sharply pointed ears. They are considered to be ugly by both Orc and Human standards.

Attribute bonuses: +1 str, -3 int, -2 wis, +3 con.

Racial abilities: Partial infravision and resist poison.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to magic.

Halforcs hate: Hobbits, Gnomes Elves, and Dwarves.


Barbarian

These people live on the outskirts of civilization. In most cases they are very strong and tough, due to living a life of extreme hardship. Barbarian warriors have been known to become berserkers in time. Unfamiliar with civilized climes, most Barbarians prefer the outdoors and life in the wilderness. They are very self-sufficient and most other races know better then to anger a Barbarian.

Barbarians may not become Mages.

Attribute bonuses: +2 str, -2 int, -2 wis, +2 con

Racial abilities: Infravision, resist poison and resist cold.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to mental control.

Barbarians hate: Elves and Gnomes.


Pixie

A Pixie is a relative to most other Faerie races. They are extremely small, coming to a tall man's knee. Pixies have wings and fly naturally. They come in various colors depending upon which tribe of pixies they belong to. They are also very smart and quick. But, by Human standards, Pixies are extremely weak and not very durable. A Pixie cannot become too weighted down or they cannot maintain flight. Most Pixies avoid other races with the exception of Elves and other Faeries.

Attribute bonuses: -4 str, +2 int, +2 wis, +3 dex, -3 con.

Racial abilities: Fly, infravision and resist poison.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to intense heat and cold.

Pixies hate: Halforcs and Giants.


Giant

This race is exactly how its name describes it. They are more than half again the height of a tall man. They are also very well-muscled. Giants may not be the smartest or most agile race in the world, but they are very strong and durable. Most Giants prefer the arts of war to other occupations of adventure.

Giants may not become Mages, Rogues or Foresters.

Attribute bonuses: +3 str, -4 int, -3 wis, -2 dex, +3 con.

Racial abilities: Resist fire and resist cold.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to mental control.

Giants hate: Elves, Halfelves, Dwarves, Hobbits and Gnomes.


Goblin

Goblins are generally an unintelligent race. Goblins are frail creatures, but what they lack in mental and physical prowess, they gain in courage and bravery. They have never been known to back down from a fight, regardless of the size of their adversary. A Goblin's blood makes them burn in the bright light, but spending a lot of time in the dark, they have fair eyesight in the dark. Part of the Goblin's bravery stems from his ability to regenerate health faster than most races.

Goblins may not become Mages, Monks, Paladins or Druids.

Attribute bonuses: -1 str, -2 int, +2 con.

Racial abilities: Infravision, resist disease and resist poison.

Racial weaknesses: Susceptibility to light.

Goblins hate: Elves, Halfelves, Dwarves, Hobbits and Gnomes.
